The COMETA educational innovation project aims to promote the acquisition of professional teaching skills with the use of active methodologies in the initial training of teachers. It is designed to bring the training that students receive at the university closer to the real demands of the educational system, society and the labor market, promoting collaboration with other educational-cultural and social entities.

Description

The mismatches between university education and the labor market have been evidenced in several studies and still continue to be a problem today. That is why, to the extent of our possibilities and as those responsible for the academic training of future teachers, we intend to offer students updated, useful and quality training.

This project is based on the so-called B-SMART (in addition to meaning 'be smart', the acronym in English corresponds to Be Socially-engaged, Motivated, Agile, Resolute and Talented). In this way, the B-SMART follows the line indicated by several academic studies, which highlight the need to link university learning with professional reality, making the educational process a professional and personal experience. The need for a greater connection between higher education institutions and those of professional work (companies, educational, cultural or social entities), has caused a paradigm shift in teaching methodologies, in such a way that it is no longer intended solely to transmission of content but also its application in a real environment, while promoting the skills development of students.

The B-SMART has been used fundamentally in university environments in the area of Economics and in this proposal we adapt it to teacher training by introducing it in teaching in different subjects of the degrees in Early Childhood and Primary Education Teacher and the Masters in Secondary Education and Specific Didactics Teaching Staff at the University of Valencia. The resolution of challenges using Design Thinking is conceived as a job or task to be carried out within the teaching program of the subjects involved. Specifically, educational challenges will be posed to the student to solve needs or problems using music and the English language. These two areas are closely related in scenic artistic projects of cultural and social projection. The challenges that may arise will be in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals. In this sense, we intend to collaborate with the Music classroom of the University of Valencia, the Culture Hall Concert cycle on the UV Campuses, the artistic-expressive CEFIRE, NGOs, among other entities.

Furthermore, the project aims to address the third mission of universities, in addition to teaching and research, which is the transfer of knowledge since the solutions proposed by the student with the guidance of teachers can be used by others. professionals.
