ABSTRACT:
Nuclear receptors (NRs) regulate gene expression in response to signaling molecules and environmental stimuli, influencing physiology and fitness. Their evolution is crucial for metazoan diversification and adaptation, yet the coevolution of NR protein sequences and regulatory features remains poorly understood. In this talk, I will present our results on key NR families in crustacean genomes, finding how slight motif changes trigger transcription factor binding site (TFBS) turnover, potentially rewiring gene regulatory networks. Finally, I will also discuss why the evolution of NR-related sequences appear to (dis-)agree with the currently accepted evolution of aquatic arthropods.
