Learn, Train, Read: A Multidimensional Approach to Spelling Processing

Description

Reading involves multiple cognitive processes, the first of which is the interface between visual input and word units in the mental lexicon: orthographic processing (that is, encoding the identity and order of each letter within a word). In our project we approach this issue from a multidimensional and interdisciplinary perspective: 1) we examine the perceptual, visual and motor mechanisms that intervene in the formation of abstract representations of words and the appearance of basic orthographic processes in children and adults; 2) we examined the perceptual elements of spelling processing during word recognition in adult and developing readers in common words, fingerprinted words, and logos; and 3) we will carry out an integration of the state of the question and the data in the field of the identity of the letters and the coding of the position and the processes of identification of words.
