CIAICO/2024/198
The project aims to understand the cognitive and neurobiological mechanisms involved in visual word recognition and in learning to read, by analyzing how letters and words are encoded from the earliest perceptual stages and how these processes evolve with reading experience. To achieve this, the project integrates behavioral measures, neurophysiological data, and computational models, allowing for a precise characterization of reading processes.
The results will help improve the early detection of reading difficulties, optimize educational practices grounded in scientific evidence, and promote more effective and equitable literacy, with a direct impact on academic performance and educational inclusion.
