Ramón Martínez Máñez, researcher at the IDM, leads one of the projects selected in the call for the Supera COVID-19 Fund, promoted by Crue Spanish Universities, Banco Santander and the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), for its application in the fight against the coronavirus.

The project is based on the development of a fast, inexpensive and reliable point-of-care system alternative to PCR, a widely used test for the early detection of COVID-19 that requires expensive equipment, specialized laboratories and expert personnel.
The research team is coordinated by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and also has the participation of personnel from the Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian Community (FISABIO), the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) and the consortium Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine (CIBER-BBN).
