Nanoscale 2017) She is co-author of 55 publications in international journals (over 1777 times cited to papers published, h-index 23). She is inventor of 3 patents. She has participated in 34 research projects (3 European, 15 national, 2 autonomic projects, 14 projects with universities, hospitals and public research institutions). She has developed research activities with companies. She worked in Hospital Quirón to develop in vivo NMR spectroscopy application in patients (2000-2003). She developed projects with Laboratorios SERONO and Dr. Esteve S.A. She was external collaborator in Philips Sistemas Médicos (2001-2007) for in vivo NMR spectroscopy application in 17 hospitals in Spain and Portugal. She collaborated with Bruker Biospin, to implement the HR-MAS NMR technique to the study of tissue biopsies (Martínez-Bisbal et al. NMR Biomed. 2004, Martínez-Bisbal et al. NMR Biomed. 2009). She collaborated with FACSA for the development of voltammetric electronic tongue for the monitoring of wastewater and spring water (Martínez-Bisbal et al. Electroanalysis 2017, Carbó et al. Sensors 2017, patent P201631405). She collaborated with Buggypower for the development of sensors for quality control in microalgae production (Martínez-Bisbal et al. Sens. Actuators B Chem. 2019). She has supervised 3 PhD thesis. She is reviewer for Frontiers in Oncology, Anal. Bioanal. Chem., Food Analytical Methods, Sensors, Epilepsia, Frontiers in Pharmacology, Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience and Metabolomics journals. She has served as international project evaluator for Narodrowe Centrum Nauki – NCN Poland PRELUDIUM call, and she was Remote Referee of ERC Starting Grant. She is secretary of the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Universitat de Valencia since February 2022. |

MONTESINOS MEZQUITA, M CARMEN |
Biography | |||
|
Dr. Montesinos obtained the Grade in Pharmacy in 1990 and defended her doctoral thesis dissertation in 1994, about the antioxidant activity of a number of phenolic derivatives. Then, in 1995, she completed a postdoctoral stay at the New York University Medical Center to studied cell signaling in human neutrophils, which prompted her employment as an assistant researcher at the same center from October 1995. She remained at this institution until December 2004 occupying an Assistant Professor position. During this period, she participated in various lines of research related to the physiological effects of the activation of adenosine receptors and their possible involvement in the anti-inflammatory effect of anti-rheumatic drugs. She was responsible of a new line of research regarding the promotion of skin wound healing by adenosine receptor agonists, which served as the basis for the project presented to access the position of Ramón y Cajal Researcher in January 2005 at the University of Valencia, where she is actually a Tenured Professor of Pharmacology. She has co-authored 46 publications in indexed journals, 36 in first quartile publications, with a total of 3178 citations and an H index of 30. Of special interest are: a publication in the Journal of Experimental Medicine in 1997 regarding the effect of adenosine receptors on wound healing promotion; and two publications in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, one in 2013, regarding the anti-psoriatic effect of a synthetic derivative of a marine natural product, and another in 2017, describing the function and the differential expression of adenosine receptor in psoriatic keratinocytes. Currently, her research focuses on the study of the pathological processes involved in inflammatory skin diseases in order to improve current therapeutic options. She is a member of the Joint Research Unit 'Center for Molecular Recognition and Technological Development' of the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the University of Valencia; member of the Thematic Network for Cooperative Research on Aging and Frailty, RETICEF, from 2009 to 2017. She is a member of the network COST Action from the European Cooperation in Science and Technology, 'Bench to bedside transition for pharmacological regulation of NRF2 in noncommunicable diseases' (BenBedPhar) CA20121. She combines her research with teaching responsibilities in pre- and postgraduate courses, being the lecturer in charge of 1 of the courses of the Official Master in 'Research and Rational Use of Medicines' of the Official Postgraduate Program in Biomedicine and Pharmacy of the UV, with a Mention towards Excellence. She is the coordinator of the Pharmacology course in the Year 3 of the Degree in Pharmacy. She is also engaged in a continuing education course of the Nau Gran-University for the Elderly. She has participated in 22 Teaching Innovation projects, being the teacher responsible or co-responsible in 4 of them. She has supervised over 37 Final Degree Thesis, 17 Final Master Thesis, and 4 (plus 2 on-going) Doctoral Degree Thesis. |
