Our alumnus Rafa Segura has recently published two plays as a result of his Master’s Final Project (2024), which investigated the dramaturgy of puppet theatre during periods of conflict, especially the Spanish Civil War.
The academic research proved highly fruitful and led to two distinctions and publications. First, the play La Tarumba, which focuses on the puppeteer Miguel Prieto, was one of the five projects selected for the “XII Programa de Desarrollo de Dramaturgias Actuales” run by the INAEM. The published play can be consulted online at:

On the other hand, the play El Búho tells the story of the Valencian puppeteer Álvaro Ponsá and the legendary Valencian university theatre company that gives the piece its name. The play was the winner of the “X Convocatòria d’Autoria a Ultramar”, organised by Sala Carme Teatre in collaboration with AVEET and the SGAE Foundation. The work was presented on February 4 at the SGAE Foundation and is available in a bilingual printed edition at Sala Carme Teatre.
