In the context of Autores i Autors a las aules program, promoted by Vicedeganat de Cultura, Igualtat, Polítiques Inclusives i Sostenibilitat of the FFTiC, the Master’s Degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies: Applications and Research, together with the Bachelor’s Degree in Hispanic Studies, will welcome director and playwright Jorge Picó on Monday, February 9. Picó is responsible for directing Los locos de Valencia, a production by the Institut Valencià de Cultura based on the play by Lope de Vega, which has been performed at the Teatre Principal of Valencia since January 22.
This visit is part of an academic outing organized by the Master’s Degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies: Applications and Research, during which professors and students will attend the performance on Sunday, February 8.
The following day, a discussion with Jorge Picó will take place. He will be in conversation with Clara Monzó, a professor in the Master’s program, and the event will also feature the participation of predoctoral researcher Laura Ferrer, who will offer attendees an introduction to Lope de Vega’s comedy.
Picó represents a perfect fusion of the academic world and artistic creation, of text and stage. A playwright with a diploma in Performing Arts from the ESAD of Valencia and a degree in English Philology from the University of Valencia, he is also the author of numerous original plays that have been staged around the world. His visit offers students a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the intricacies and challenges involved in adapting a classical work, as well as to discover one of Lope de Vega’s lesser-known comedies.
