During the catastrophes and emergencies such as the one we are experiencing, many people will need urgent assistance to be helped through socio emotional, social and psychological support. These situation of crisis are a field of multidisciplinary intervention in which professionals from different areas must collaborate together synergistically. The following proposal is thought out as a rapid answer in front of the traumatic losses derived from the DANA that the floods provoked in the south region of Valencia.
The goal is to carry out a first wave of relieve and support for those from our faculty who had suffered human and/or material loses, either directly or indirectly, and who need immediate help in terms of being heard, sheltered and accompanied through the situation they are experiencing. This socio emotional support does not substitute, when relevant, the possible professional psychological or psychiatric help needed.
In our Faculty we have personnel specialised in Clinic Social Work, two specialists with training and contrasted professional experience for this type of scenarios. In this sense, the Social Work General Council points out that the clinic social word is a specialisation of social work, as it is a specialised form of therapeutic intervention which attempts to prevent and face the vital stressing situations and which is practiced in all the fields which might need to take care of psychosocial discomfort and suffering.
The proposal focuses on offering the possibility of taking support sessions, either on-site on the Faculty or online. The activation of the support space is to be done as follows:
- Request for support from the affected individual or by direct recommendation of the Faculty (with the consent of the affected individual)
- Choosing either the on-site or online mode
- Contacting the affected individual
