Internships in Healthcare

Institutions Internships in healthcare institutions are a training activity carried out by students and supervised by a tutor from the company or institution where the internship takes place and by an academic tutor from the University of Valencia. Its main objective is to allow students to apply and complement the knowledge acquired in their academic training, while promoting the acquisition of skills that prepare them for professional activities, facilitate their employment, and foster their entrepreneurial capacity. The University of Valencia considers internships in healthcare institutions an important and necessary methodology for the learning and preparation of its students, as well as for connecting with society, and has its own regulations governing them. Each university center has an internship committee whose mission, among other things, is to promote and academically supervise training internships. There are two types of internships: curricular and extracurricular. Curricular internships are defined as academic activities integrated into the respective curriculum (undergraduate and postgraduate degrees), which correspond to a module, subject, or course. Extracurricular internships, on the other hand, are those that students may undertake voluntarily during their training period (undergraduate and postgraduate degrees) and which, while serving the same purposes as curricular internships, are not part of the curriculum. Regarding internships with minors and in compliance with Law 26/2015, of July 28, amending the child and adolescent protection system, students who must or wish to undertake internships that involve regular contact with minors must provide a negative certification from the Central Registry of Sex Offenders issued by the Ministry of Justice.

External internships are regulated by the External Internship Regulations of the University of Valencia.
