The FUE, Federación Universitaria Escolar (University School Federation), was founded in Valencia 1930 by students as Entidio Navarro Beltrán, Vicente Sánchez Estevan and Manuel Usano Martínez.
As the main university student union, it has a leading role in the politics and cultural participation of students, and in the defense of the Republic.
The activity of the FUE in Valencia was very intense during the republican period, especially during the first three years, continuing during the war.
The membership rate is difficult to determine but it can be stated that it was around eighty and sixty per cent.
Apart from being good students, its members made an important social and cultural work.
