These awards distinguish those with the best academic records of the first year of undergraduate studies by area of knowledge.
The Universitat de València and the Carmen Izquierdo Besante Foundation have celebrated the now-traditional presentation ceremony to recognise first-year students who have achieved the best academic record in their respective areas of knowledge.
Those awards in this edition have been: Irene Rodrigo, student of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and the one with the best academic record in the areas of Science, Engineering and Architecture; Gabriela Restifo, student of Medicine and the one with the best academic record in Health Sciences; Xavier Molero, student of Philosophy and the one with the best academic record in Arts and Humanities; Vega Lillo, student of Audiovisual Communication and the one with the best academic record in Social and Legal Sciences. The recognition came with €500 for each student.
The principal of the Universitat de València, M. Vicenta Mestre, congratulated students and encouraged them to continue to push themselves, better themselves and persevere. In her words: “This recognition is a small push to continue on this path, a path that will allow you to achieve professional excellence.”
The secretary of the foundation, Javier Pastor, also congratulated them and highlighted how proud the Carmen Izquierdo Besante Foundation is to give them this recognition, that award the excellence in the Universitat de València, an institution with more than 525 years of history.
Those awarded were accompanied by their families and the Vice-Principal for Studies, Isabel Vázquez; M. Elena Cantarino, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences; Rafael Ibáñez, dean of the Faculty of Chemistry; José Rafael Magdaleno, principal of the School of Engineering; M. Rosa Álvarez, dean of the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication; and Amparo Ruiz, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
