Ángel Gabilondo, full university professor of Metaphysics and former Minister of Education, gave on Friday a lecture as a part of the Neoliberalism and Education Conference, a monograph meeting on debate about LOMCE, the new educative law proposed by Minister Wert. The event has been organised by the Staff Development and Educational Innovation Service Morcillo introduced the former minister and claimed society's engagement in the defence of public education.

In the speech of Esteban Morcillo, he has stated the rejection by the principals of the public universities. "To the substance and form of the experts' report on the LOMCE" and has described as "uncomfortable" an educational setting that "we well want it to be another".

The president has endorsed the words of former Minister of Education, Ángel Gabilondo, by claiming "public education as a whole, without barriers. The entire education system, from its infancy to higher studies, vocational training, university... All form an assembly that should be at the heart of society. "

From his perspective, the former minister Gabilondo has expressed his commitment with "the quality education, but without forgetting that quality without equity, without equality, is elitism and discrimination. I defend the excellence but a social and plural excellence." The full university professor of metaphysics said that "I believe in public policy. Believe in equality in every way, so if wehave to talk about an education law, we must consider how it will address the issue of equality." For Gabilondo, "the important thing for me is the citizens´ welfare, dignified, fair and free life and what I want is an education system that encourages that, and I wonder if we are in an education system that takes steps in that direction ".

The conference, held in the La Nau Cultural entre of the University of Valencia, is inserted into the framework of the annual meetings organised in collaboration with Institute Directors Association (ADIES).

The first round table meeting focused on the predicted effect of the mentioned law on the daily reality of the public institutes. It will have the participation of the Institute Directors Association(ADIES), the Federation of Associations of Parents of students (FAPA) and students unions. In the second one, the ideological, pedagogical and economic aspects underlying LOMCE have been analysed. It had the participation of specialists from the three area: Francesc Imbernón, full university professor of Pedagogy; Jorge Calero, professor of Economics and expert on Economics of Education; y Francisco Delgado, president of Europa Laica.

The Meetings of Exchange of University-Secondary Education Experiences give visibility to educational innovation projects
performed in public institutes of the Valencian Community, the majority of which are carried out in collaboration with the university staffs. This year, the proposed legislative change has been important, we preferred to hold a monographic conference of debate and reflection.

The vice-principal for Culture and Equality, Antonio Ariño, and the Vice-Principal for Studies and Language Policy, Isabel Vázquez, have closed the conference and said that there had been 150 people registered.
