The group of research of anti-inflammatories of natural origin is a consolidated group, composed of four teachers working together since 1985: José Luis Ríos Cañavate, Maria del Carmen Recio Iglesias, Rosa Maria Giner Pons and Salvador  Máñez Aliño.

The research activity is focused on the study of natural molecules with anti-inflammatory activity. Part of the research has been developed in the search for early activity in dermatitis, delayed hypersensitivity reactions, and antioxidants. In recent years the group's activity has focused on the search for new principles activity in intestinal inflammation.
Regarding the principles studied mainly include terpenoids (triterpenes and glicoterpenoides) and phenolic compounds, flavonoids and caffeoylquinic derivatives), although other principles of great interest have also been studied.
