Elite Athletes Service Area
The Universitat de València has established a dedicated support service for students who are also elite athletes, high-performance athletes or high-level athletes. The objective of this service is to facilitate their access to the UV and to provide them with the necessary support so that they can complete their studies at the UV.
In order to be considered elite athletes, undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral students at any of the UV centres – including the attached private centres – must have the following status:
High-level and high-performance athletes, in accordance with the Royal Decree 971/2007, of 13 July, on high-level and high-performance athletes
Valencian high-level athletes, in accordance with Decree 39/2020, of 20 March, of the Valencian Council, on support measures for elite athletes and technical staff, coaches, referees and elite judges of the Valencian Community
High-level athletes must balance their academic training with their sports career in order to optimise their chances of finding employment without having to abandon either of the two. For this reason, the UV has established a tutoring plan for elite athletes, which is coordinated by the UV Sports Service through the Elite Athletes Service Area. This plan includes a supervisor in each UV centre, whose role is to provide advice and tutoring to elite athletes in accordance with the instructions of the University Head Office (IUV 3/2024).
