What is school insurance?
School insurance is an insurance that protects students under the age of 28, who are in official studies until the end of the third university cycle, in case of illness, school accident and family misfortune. What is the Adapted Sports Programme for People with Disabilities (PDAPD)?
The Universitat de València's Adapted Sports Programme for People with Disabilities (PDAPD for its Spanish acronym) consists of offering physical and sports activities aimed at people who are part of the university community and the groups that are established by regulation, through the Physical Education and Sports Service, which is the one that organises and manages it. This program is centralised in the Blasco Ibáñez Campus. The offer of physical-sports activities aimed at students with disabilities and/or special needs derived from a disability is of a recreational and competitive nature. It is an inclusive, specific, and/or adapted offer that is varied. During each course, specific/adapted/inclusive sports schools are offered for different sports modalities: Athletics, Powerchair football, Goalball, Powerchair hockey, Paddleball, Table tennis, Wheelchair tennis, Tetrasport Physical Activity adapted to persons with severe disabilities, Archery, etc. Given the wide range of activities with a clear inclusive vocation (+60), we invite you to come and talk to the technical staff who run the activity you may be interested in, before the start of the class and ask them any questions you may have. There are as many ways to understand and carry out the activities as there are people willing to teach and learn them. Depending on each activity and the resources available, the activities are offered by Blasco Ibáñez, Burjassot or Tarongers. The offer is mainly aimed at the university community, but groups established by regulation can also be incorporated. The newly incorporated disabled students, in their interview at UVDisability, are informed of the existence of the Physical Education and Sports Service and the personnel responsible for the Adapted Sports Programme for Disabled Persons. An initial interview is recommended to address the issues that are of interest to the student body regarding sport at the university. The public price of each activity is the one approved annually by the Universitat de València's Governing Council (CGUV). In the case of people with disabilities who are part of the university community, after the CGUV's approval, a reduction of 50% is automatically applied to them during the registration process. This discount is only applied to members of the university community who are on the Universitat de València's adapted sports programme, not to external staff with a sports card. You can consult all the rates at http://go.uv.es/w8eilpN.
Enrolment in sports activities and schools is done through the "SELF-ENROLMENT" button, or through this link. Personal assistance is a Human Right of persons with disabilities as stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2006 (CRPD). In this Convention, specific mention is made of Independent Living, through its Article 19: "Right to live independently and to be included in the community". Students can participate in the sports volunteer programme of the Adapted Sports Programme for People with Disabilities (PDAPD) during a four-month period and obtain recognition of ECTS credits for support in carrying out sports activities with people with disabilities. If they comply with the regulations established annually, both people (user and support) could benefit from the recognition.
