As a sport, fencing consists in using the sword, foil and sabre for competing in regulated duels.
From the athletic point of view, fencing develops the following qualities: speed, strength and agility, specially the coordination of arms and legs, as well as balance.
As a combat or fighting sport it involves: analytical capacity of the opponent, rapid decision-making, ability to provoke advantageous reactions for the swordsman against the opponent and development of defensive tactics as well as strengthen and response capacity of the individual weakening their response time.
