Vanesa Shestopalka is the new Spanish champion of university taekwondo in the Olympic super lightweight category. Neus Domènech won the bronze in heavyweight. And Paula Temina won the bronze in heavyweight. The University of Valencia adds three medals in the CEU national university championships.
The last weekend of March took place in Burgos the Spanish University Taekwondo Championship (CEU), organized by the Isabel I University. The UV taekwondo team, under the guidance of the coach Estefanía Almela, did a great job in the combat modality.
Vanesa Shestopalka, in the 67 kg category, won the gold medal after beating Janire Gutiérrez (University of Deusto), Sonia Roldán (University of Lleó) and Marta González (Rei Joan Carles University).
Neus Domènech (+ 73 kg) obtained a 3rd place, tied with Soraya Martín from the University of the Basque Country. She won the 1st fight against Irene Camado (University of Granada), but she lost against Desireé Rivadulla (O. Vigo) who won the gold medal.
In the 53 kg category, the most competitive of the competition, in which 16 competitors participated, the representative of the UV Paula Temina achieved a meritorious 3rd place, tied on points with the representative of the UCAM of Murcia, Beatriz Núñez. Paula beat Eva Muñoz (University of Jaén) but could not beat the tournament champion Alma Pérez (Atonomous University of Barcelona).
