Maurice Eckhard, one of the UV students who benefits from the grant by Divina Pastora Chair of Adapted Sports of the Universitat de València, is one of the greatest winners of the Spanish expedition in the Paralympic Cycling World Championship which ended yesterday in the South African city of Pietermaritzburg.
In total, the Spanish team achieved nine medals, two gold, four silver and three bronzes. Between them, Eckhard won two metals: a gold medal, achieved just yesterday in the longest event, the MC3 by beating the South African Craig Ridgard and Eduardo Santas; and a silver medal in the time trial in MC2 the first day of competition, an event in which the Spanish team won four medals.
The results of this championship bring the Paralympic team closer to the positions that enable them to compete in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
