The frontenis team of the Universitat de València will go to Elche on Tuesday, 1 March, to compete in the Regional University Sports Championship (CADU) of frontenis that, in this occasion will take place at the frontons of the Ciudad Deportiva de Elche. The team headed by Cristina Ortiz, which won a gold medal the last year, will play the autonomic competition from 10:00 to 18:00.
On Tuesday, the frontenis team will attend the event with two couples: the one formed by Jorge Castro and Víctor Molina, as couple number 1 and the number two formed by Albert Bassedas Gascó and Toni Morellà Gradolí. Toni Morellà.
The team coach, Cristina Ortiz, highlights that the team goes to the Championship with “illusions of winning the gold for the fourth consecutive time. Jorge Castro Martínez (forward), finished fourth recently in the Under-22 World Championship in Palencia during the past year in the Paleta Rubber modality. Other player is Víctor Molina, who finished third in the classification of the same World Championship, but in the Olympic Ball modality. Also, both players are current members of the Pelota Spanish national team. Regarding Antoni Morellà Gradolí, he was with us in the last four years in the CADU as well as in the Zabalki International Tournament in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 achieving the victory in all of them. To all these university sports achievements, we have to add that he was runner-up in Paleta Rubber in the under-22 World Championship in 2011 in Mexico and five times Spanish champion in frontenis. Finally, we have a great forward, Alberto Bassedas Gascó, with who we won the CADU title of the last year. We face the competition with very positive feelings, since the main objective is to win the frontenis regional championship. The CADU is not going to be easy, we will face the best couples of the university panorama of the community, and we will go, as always, with a lot of humility, concentration, energy and doing our best to position our couples among the best and be back in Valencia with the desired consecutive victory”.
