
The Universitat de València has had an outstanding participation in the Spanish University Championships (CEU), with an excellent balance of eight medals in the disciplines of taekwondo and athletics, as well as an international classification.
In taekwondo, the university team won four medals. Alejandro Martín Sánchez won the silver medal in the -87 kg category, while Jorge Murillo Palacios (-63 kg), Joaquín Fenollar Hernández (+87 kg) and Vanessa Shestopalka (-67 kg) won bronze, reflecting the high technical and competitive level of the group.
In athletics, the results were also outstanding. Andrea Rodríguez Castelló took silver in the women's 800m, and Laura Alegre Punzano won silver in the women's high jump. Completing the medal tally were bronze medals for Óscar Gimeno Cotaina in the men's hammer throw, Carmen Marco Mora in the women's 200m, and Héctor Delgado Hernández in the men's long jump, whose performance earned him direct qualification for the European U20 Championships, an achievement of enormous projection.
In addition to the results obtained in taekwondo and athletics, the Universitat de València also competed in rugby 7-a-side, where the women's team finished fifth and the men's team ninth, in archery and in golf.
