
France and Croatia are waiting for the UV athletes.
Judo and taekwondo teams of the UV will compete in the European University Championship.
The judo team will go to Reims (France) to compete in the third edition of the European University Championship, that will be held from 7 to 10 October. The team coached by Vicente Rochela reach the first position in the Regional University Sports Championship (CADU), after winning 6 golds, 7 silvers and 5 bronzes. Moreover, the team participates in this event after competing in the last European championship, Coimbra’13, where they won three bronzes thanks to Javier Selma, Iokin Sagarzazu and Isabel Tomás.
On their behalf, the taekwondo team of the UV will compete in the fourth edition of the Taekwondo European University Championship, to be held in Opatija (Croatia) from 10 to 13 November of this year.
The UV team is getting ready to the event after winning 6 medals in the National Championship the last April, in which they achieve 6 bronzes in men’s thanks to the good performance of Alejandro Cabeza (weight class -58 kg), Andreu Martínez (-63 kg), Alberto Sandiego (-80 kg) and Víctor Mejías (-87 kg) and in women’s thanks to Estefanía Almela (-62 kg) and Lucía González (-73 kg).
Judo and taekwondo are not the only sports representing the UV at the European Championship. The rugby and volleyball teams also compete in their championships, that will take place on 22 and 25 July in Hungary (Rugby) and from 19 to 26 July in Italy (Volleyball).
