The University of the Basque Country held this tournament in which close to a hundred athletes from eleven Spanish and French universities participated.
The competition was held last 14 March in a variety of frontons in the city of Vitoria. There were seven modalities played in the men’s and women’s categories: pilota a mano, paleta argentina, paleta goma, paleta cuero, frontball, frontenis and cesta punta.
The athletes from the Universitat de València performed excellently, winning a total of six medals, two golds, three silvers and one bronze. Our racket players were champions both in men’s and women’s frontenis. As well as finishing second in women’s paleta, women’s pelota a mano and men’s frontball. Regarding men’s trinquete, our pelotaris finished third.
The objectives of this tournament are chiefly to promote pilota sports, to empower the spirit of self-improvement and competition of high-level university athletes and to create a meeting and cohabitation space between students of different places and countries.
