16 universities fought for medals in the Rugby Sevens CEU held in Murcia from April 20th to April 21st. The players of the UV gave their all and achieved a fourth place in the men’s tournament.
More than 300 players from universities all over Spain met in Murcia. The men’s championship took place at the Monte Romero Stadium (Murcia) and the women’s championship –where the UV has not been represented in 2022– at Las Torres Rugby Field.
In the men’s tournament, the team of the UV gave a good impression by achieving a fourth place. The University of the Basque Country (bronze), the University of Sevilla (silver) and the San Jorge University of Zaragoza (gold) made up the podium.
The Rugby Sevens men’s team of the Universitat de València started the finals on April 21st on a large scale, winning the host university of the CEU 2022, the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), by 52-5. The next match was against the San Jorge University of Zaragoza. The Valencian team lost 14-5 against them, and the Aragonese team ended up winning the championship. In the last match of the championship, the UV team fought for the bronze medal against the Basque Country team. The match ended 19-31 for the Basque. The boys of the Universitat de València finished in a commendable fourth place.
