The Universitat de València has collected its first medals in the European Universities Games (EUG) 2026, which was celebrated at Salerno, Italy. The paddle tennis team was responsible for winning the first gold medal for the Valencian delegation in the male category and a bronze from the women’s team, signing a brilliant beginning in this championship amongst European universities.

Team partners Lucas Orduña and Jorge Ferre proclaimed themselves as European champions after conquering the gold medal in the men’s category. As for the women’s teams, Nuria Molina Sánchez and Ana Hack Abad were able to stand on the podium with their bronze medal thanks to their incredible performance.

These results reflect the effort, dedication and commitment from the students of the Uiversitat de València, who were able to balance their academic requirements and an elite sports competition. Moreover, the success from the paddle tennis team calls for the recognition of the hard work carried out throughout the whole season by the players and the technical staff.

With this gold and bronze, the Universitat de València wins its first medals at the EUG 2026 and reaffirms its high sports level in one of the most important competitions among European universities. Despite the fact that paddle tennis was the first sport to go up on the podium, the participation from the Valencian delegation will continue during the next days with the opportunity to increase the medals earned.
