
The Universitat de València stands out again at the Spanish University Championship (CEU) with significant results in several sporting disciplines. The women’s 3x3 basketball team proclaimed itself the champion of Spain, whereas the men team was on the verge of the podium, reaching a commendable fourth place. Besides, the UV achieved a bronze medal in padel, and took part in other sporting disciplines.
On the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of April, the 3x3 basketball Spanish University Championship was held at the University of Granada. The UV women’s team had an excellent tournament, ending with a 19-8 victory at the finals against the Universitat de Barcelona.
Meanwhile, the men’s team was on the verge of the podium. The UV players were beaten at the semi-finals by the Catholic University of Murcia, which ended up winning 12-19. Later, at the match for the third place, they lost against the University of Zaragoza, with a close score of 15-17, ending up in the fourth place.
Bronze in Padel
Regarding the padel competition, it was held from 20th to 23rd of April and couples from several universities across the country met at the paddle courts of Vals El Cónsul Club. The competition, organised by the University of Málaga, was characterised by a high technical level and great intensity.
The couple composed of Lucas Orduña and Agustín de Miguel got the bronze medal in the male category after a hard-fought event. In turn, the women’s team didn’t get through the group phase.
Participation in other sports
In the rest of categories, the women’s rugby 7 team reached the sixth place at the championship, which was held on the same days as the 3x3 basketball at the University of Granada. In contrast, the women’s futsal team didn’t get through the groups phase at the competition, which was also hold in Granada.
UV students keep proving their high level in university sport competitions. As always, we wish them luck representing our university in the competitions that have yet to be held.
