UV ranks among the five best universities in the European Universities Games thanks to the bronze in women's tennis

The women's tennis team of the Universitat de València won the bronze medal at the 2026 European Universities Games, held at Salerno (Italy). With this achievement, the UV ended one of the most important inter-university sporting events of Europe with a total of four medals. The effort of the athletes was rewarded with the fifth position out of the 52nd participant institutions.

The UV tennis players excelled in the preliminary rounds after the victory of two out of the three played matches. Their hard work was rewarded in the semifinals, with the result of one game out of two in favour of the Valencian players.

The women's sport at the UV stands out with the achievement of one gold medal in basketball and two bronze medals in the paddle and tennis competitions. There were also two ninth places, one of handball and another one in the category of women's singles badminton, worth mentioning. As for men's categories, a gold medal in paddle, a seventh place in tennis and a tenth position in volleyball were also achieved.

The EUG represents an important inter-university sporting event held every two years, coordinated by the European University Sport Association (EUSA). The matches are played by teams and athletes from European universities, who combine their academic life with high-level sporting competitions.

The UV raises the bar very high for the next editions which will take place in Split, Croatia in 2028 and looking to Granada, which was chosen as the venue for the 2030 EUSA European Universities Games.
