The UV, second in the medal table with 5 golden, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals at the Swimming CEU

Núria Payola wins the bronze medal in 100m freestyle

The swimmers of the UV have achieved the second place in the medal table of the Spanish University Championship (CEU) with 11 medals.

More than 270 swimmers representing 45 universities participated in the Spanish University Championship, organised by the UCAM of Murcia and held at the Torre Pacheco Municipal Pool, on Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th.

The swimmers of the UV achieved the second place in the medal table with 11 medals (5 golden, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals). The host university won the first place, the Catholic University San Antonio of Murcia (41 golden, 13 silver and 6 bronze medals) and the third place was for the University of Barcelona (3 golden, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals).

Mikel Bonal Hernández won the golden medal in 100m breaststroke with a time of 1'02”03, in 200m breaststroke with 2,14’’ and in 200m medley. Mikel Bonal also won the silver medal in 50m breaststroke. Héctor Fontabella won two golden medals, in 100m medley with 56’’ 71’ and in 50m backstroke with 25.53’, and the silver medal in 100m backstroke. Núria Payola won the bronze medal in 100m freestyle and 200m freestyle, and got the fourth place in 400m. The Universitat de València men’s team, comprised by Héctor Fontabella, Tomás Maxwell Mackenzie, Mikel Bonal and Samuel Marín, won two bronze medals in 50m medley relay and 50m freestyle relay.
