The players of the Universitat de València won a silver and a bronze medal in the Badminton CEU that took place in Murcia.
On March 21st and 22th, the Badminton CEU was held at the Mireia Belmonte Pavilion, in the town of Las Torres de Cotillas, Murcia.
In the mixed doubles modality, Lorenzo Adell and Llucia Vázquez won the silver medal. The Universitat de València pair reached the semi-finals undefeated after getting first of the group C, ahead of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Comillas Pontifical University. Lorenzo Adell and Llucia Vazquez faced the representatives of the University of Huelva in semi-finals during three tight games, which the Valencian players ended up winning. On the big final, the mixed pair of the UV was not able to win the host University, the UCAM of Murcia. They lost both games 21-15 and 21-14, so they finished the tournament on a great second place.
In the singles modality, Lorenzo Adell was the first one of his group after winning the players of the Comillas Pontifical University of Madrid and the University of the Basque Country. However, he lost on semi-finals against the UCAM player and went home with a commendable bronze medal.
In the women’s singles modality, Llucia Vázquez was on the threshold of playing in semi-finals. Even though she won the same matches as the player from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Valencian player was not able to surpass her in the total number of points. Therefore, she ended up being second in the group C.
The players of the Universitat de València in the double modalities were not able to get into the groups phase. Gabriel Cho and José Lozano participated in the men’s doubles modality, while Gemma Tejedor and Marina Vallet were the representatives of the UV in the women’s doubles modality.
