The Girls4STEM project is organising a talk dedicated to Dolores Corella, patroness of the project, professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Valencia and pioneer in research on nutritional genomics. The event, this Thursday, December 1, will be at 5 p.m. in the Joan Pelechano event hall of the School of Engineering of the University of Valencia (ETSE-UV).

From 5.30 p.m. it will be broadcast by YouTube. To attend in person, prior registration is required here. The cycle of talks in which this is part of aims to show examples of success that inspire young people when choosing their studies, especially women.

The event will be attended by Dolores Corella; Mayte Bacete, industrial engineer and director of the Spanish subsidiary of Maxlinear; María Vargas, agricultural engineer and professor at the Department of Food Technology at the Polytechnic University of Valencia; and Andrea López, computer engineer and product manager at Think Agile.

The project that organises this event, Girls4STEM, has as its main objective the promotion of vocations in the STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) among the general public and in a very particular way among women.

This event is part of the activities organised by Girls4STEM from the ETSE-UV, the Office of the Vice-Rector for Equality, Diversity and Sustainability, the Equality Unit and the Office of the Vice-Rector for Innovation and Transfer of the University of Valencia. In addition, it has the support of the Valencian Government and funding from the Ministry of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).

At the end of the event, the +Dones Awards will also be presented, organised by ETSE-UV and Girls4STEM and which reward the best idea to give visibility to women in the STEM field, and thus give models to students, reduce fees female dropout in studies and encourage the creation of support networks.
