The exhibition "Equipo Realidad: crítica, autoría e identidad" addresses the joint career of painters Jorge Ballester and Juan Cardells, members of Equipo Realidad, whose pictorial journey began in February 1966 and ended in 1976. The paintings "Entierro del estudiante Orgaz" (Burial of the student Orgaz) and "Recepción oficial" (Official reception), both in this exhibition, mark the beginning and end of the joint path taken by both painters within the Valencian trend of Chronicle of Reality, created by Vicente Aguilera Cerni and promoted by Tomás Llorens. This trend is is part, in turn, of the critical realism emerged in Spain in the mid-sixties, in response to the exhaustion of Art informel, and was influenced by the renovating European and American trends: French narrative figuration, with Eduardo Arroyo among its leading exponents, and the Pop Art of Britain and the United States, started by Richard Hamilton and exalted by Andy Warhol.
