‘Five Hundred and Twenty-five Years of Shaping the Future’ is the slogan for the 41^st edition of the UEG that will be held from 8 to 19 July. This year’s opening conference will be held by Manuel Vicent. 

Manuel Vicent Recatalà (la Vilavella, Plana Baixa, 1936) Valencian writer and columnist. He holds a degree in Law and Philosophy (Universitat de València), and in Journalism (Escuela Oficial of Madrid). Vicent began his career as a journalist in the Triunfo magazine, and as a political columnist in the Madrid newspaper, which he continued years later in El País. He combines his literary work with his work as an art gallery owner. Some of his novels have been made into films, for which he has won numerous awards, including the Navidad Award in 1987 and the Alfaguara Award in 1966 and 1999.
