The curricular internships of the Dentistry Degree are done in the Dental Clinic. The students that study the degree of Dentistry in the UV do, from the first courses, different types of internships, either from IT, laboratory, preclinical abilities room and odontology clinic; that prepare them progressively in order to include in their training the assistance to patience and real contexts as an essential part of their learning.

In the first year the laboratory internships and of IT in reduced groups are predominant in subjects like Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and immunology, Biostatistics and Public Health, Physiology, Histology, Psychology, and Communication, Documentation, professionalism and forensic dentistry; all in the facilities of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, and they start to develop preclinical internships in the laboratory of the facilities in the Dental Clinic.

In the second course students combine the laboratory internships in the subjects of Pharmacology, anaesthesia and resuscitation, General medical pathology and paediatrics, English for health sciences and Pathological anatomy in the facilities of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, with the preclinical internships of laboratory and the clinical internships with patients in the facilities of the Dental Clinic.

In the third course the students will attend patients in the facilities of the Dental Clinic and because of that teaching theory and internships of Oral surgery, Oral medicine, Dental prosthesis I, Preventative and community dentistry I, Radiology and radiation protection and Dental pathology, conservative dentistry and endodoncy I, will be entirely carried out in their facilities and this last subject will participate as well as part of their training in assistance activities in a Health Centre.

In the fourth year, there are clinical practices with patients in Odontopediatrics, Periodontics, Dental prosthesis II and Dental pathology, conservative dentistry and endodoncy II and they maintain the preclinical internships in laboratory in Orthodontics I.
Last, in fifth year, in addition to the odonatological clinical internships in the subjects of Preventative and community dentistry II, Gerodontology and Dentistry for patients with special needs, are situated the practicum in which students attend patients of all ages under the supervision of a clinical tutor. The clinical training throughout the degree is carried out in a ratio professor/student of 1/5 being these professional teachers of recognised prestige in clinical practice of Odontology.
These clinical practices are developed with patients and it is the students who under the supervision of a clinical tutor attends and treats the problems of the patient interacting with him in an integrated way and in the same context in which their professional labour will be carried out when they finish their studies; they have, thus, a clear orientation professional character.
All this is possible thanks to the facilities of the Dental Clinic that has 72 dental offices totally equipped, IT terminals for the electronic management of the clinical histories, centralised sterilisation service and radiology service equipped with state-of-the-art radiodiagnostic systems, among others.
The Dental Clinic of the Universitat de València, which management is entrusted to the Lluís Alcanyís Foundation of the Universitat de València of the Valencian Community (FLA), is well situated in the urban area and very accessible to citizens, which together with the prestige with which it counts after more than 25 years at community service, ensures that an important patient portfolio is maintained, which ensures the necessity of practice training of the students of the Degree in Dentistry for the Universitat de València.
