Introduction

Medicine, science and technology are social activities. Its development responds to a series of norms and values ​​characteristic of specific historical contexts. In fact, throughout history, the knowledge of naturalization has been inscribed in a set of relationships with other existing social, political and cultural corms, contributing to model individual and collective existence.

This exhibition provides some examples of how medicine, science and technology have participated in the processes of transformation of modern societies. The open questions raised here allow us to delve into different issues related to the production of knowledge and medical and scientific practice. This approach, built from the collection of scientific and medical instruments of the graphic and bibliographical heritage of the Universitat de València, allows the visitor to approach some of the most recent historiographical debates. It is a way of providing the necessary tools to assess and interpret our cultural heritage, while also reflecting critically on the problems of the present.
