The goal of this database is to collect all the publications about history of science and technique published in Spain or developed by Spanish authors, in order to contribute to its dissemination.

The interest for the production of Spanish scientific research in history of science has grown in recent years and has resulted in works, which review the scientific production in this discipline depending on the publications in national and international journals, doctoral theses, monographs and book chapters, conference proceedings etc.

Due to its interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature is not easy to know the scientific production of this discipline, so for this reason on 1988 was created the Historical Bibliograpy on Science and Technique in Spain at the Institute of Documentary and Historical studies on Science, now called the López Piñero Institute for the History of Science and Medicine, the annual printed publication that was published until 1999 in the journal Asclepio, and until 2005 in the journal Cronos, published by the same institute.

With all these information has been created the Historical Bibliography on Science and Technique in Spain database, of free access to the entire scientific community, in order to collect information on the works of history of science and technique published in Spain by Spanish authors, through a systematic extraction of national and international catalogues and databases, as well as Spanish journals specialised in history of science.
