Implemented in Valencia during the years 2009 and 2010.

Developed by the Research Group DATS, in collaboration with the Research Group ARTEC and Lander, is geared to the development of traffic occupational risk prevention courses (accidents “on mission”) for professional drivers through the lorries simulation system PREVISIM-SICAM.

Specific aims of the course: it is about to provide the subjects the necessary information (theoretically and practically through the simulator) and considering this one as a previous step on the attitude change of professional drivers while driving. The variables related to the driver (perception, attention, tiredness, sleep), variables related to the vehicle (elements of active safety, elements of passive safety and elements of preventive safety) and variables related to environmental factors will be analysed.

Specific contents of the course: improvement of techniques related to the driving of heavy vehicles; adaptation of the student’s attitude to a pattern of safe behaviour; efficient driving (average consumption, average speed, punctual speed in certain conditions, average use of the brake pedal, use of the retarder, etc.); tour of different stages; analysis of the data gathered during the simulation session: improvement in favour of a safer and more efficient driving.

During the two years of the project 1635 workers from 198 different companies have been trained.
