About us

The Youth Chair was formed in 2022 as a result of the agreement between the Universitat de València and the Valencian Institute for Young People (IVAJ). It is intended to encourage and promote knowledge transfer, research, training and innovation in areas related to youth and youth policies.

The Chair will organise and conduct knowledge-oriented training, cultural, research and university extension activities driven toward the permanent dissemination of the reality of young people and youth policies in the Valencian Community.

Specifically, as stated in the collaboration agreement signed between the UV and the IVAJ, the following actions are envisaged: the organisation of training courses and activities, workshops, research projects and conferences on youth issues; the implementation of joint research lines between the UV and the Valencian Youth Monitoring Centre; the promotion of national and international meetings of scientists and specialists; the execution of research work, transfer of results and doctoral theses; and the promotion of publications on topics related to young people and youth policies.

The Chair is lead by Dr. Paz Viguer, D. Psy, tenured university professor at the Universitat de València, with a joint committee and an expert team of members and collaborating staff.

The Chair was created with the purpose of gaining a deeper understanding of the situation of young people today in the Valencian Community and optimising policies according to current youth needs. Additionally, this Chair will designate a special attention to the training of professionals working in youth-related fields, as well as to intensifying research in the field from a multidisciplinary perspective.
