The Youth Chair of the Universitat de València drives a stable training pathway aimed at professionals who work with teenagers and young people at a municipal level or in educational, social and community settings.
The implementation of this pathway responds to one of the sector's most repeated demands: to have specific university education regarding youth, with a practical orientation, based on scientific evidence and adapted to the reality of the territories.
To define this, an analysis of the existing supply and the training needs identified in the professional sector was carried out. From this process, it was agreed to develop a proposal integrated within the framework of continuous learning at the Universitat de València.
The Universitat de València divides the continuous learning in two main modalities:
- Postgraduate degrees (requiring previous university degrees), aimed at acquiring specialisation and academic and professional training. These include, among others, the title of University Expert, with a course load of between 15 and 29 ECTS credits.
- Continuous learning programmes (which can be accessed without previous university degrees), aimed at expanding and bringing up to date professional knowledge and skills. This category includes the Continuous Learning Certificate, with a course load of between 15 and 30 ECTS credits.
Training pathway offer
The training programme offered by the Chair in Youth Studies is divided into two options, which allow the training to be adapted to the professional and academic profile of each participant:
University Expert in Promotion and Optimisation of Development in Adolescence and Youth
Postgraduate degree from the Universitat de València (16 ECTS credits), aimed at individuals with a previous university degree who are interested in deepening their knowledge of adolescent and youth development. This training aims to provide students with an updated and contextualised understanding of adolescence and youth, which allows them to understand anything related to the biological, psychological, mental and social development of young people, and provides them with tools for analysis, intervention and evaluation directly related to the methodological framework of socio-educational support.
Continuous Learning Certificate in Adolescence and Youth
Postgraduate degree aimed at professionals without a previous university degree who work or are interested in working in the field of youth. This training aims to provide students with an updated and contextualised understanding of adolescence and youth of the 21st century, in order to carry out a rigorous intervention from the knowledge of the foundations of the paradigm of socio-educational support and the importance of community.
