The winning team had been trained in the internal debate league of the UV, with Paz Viguer, Head of the Youth Chair, as judge.
In an exciting and tight final, the team of the Universitat de València won against the team of the University of the Balearic Islands, which turned out runner-up, in the Debate League of the Vives Network. Fourteen teams from universities that are members of the Xarxa took part in the final phase of the competition that the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón de la Plana hosted.
The representative team of the Universitat de València consists of students who have participated in the local phase of the Debate League, that was celebrated last October, which included a preparatory course, and an internal debate league.
For the internal debate league, different teams among the trained students are created and there is a competition with the same debate topic as in the Xarxa Vives League. The judges that chose the winning team and the best speaker this year consisted of: Paz Viguer, Director of the Youth Chair and professor of the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology; Maria Josep Picó, from the Department of Language Theory and Communication Sciences, and Miquel Nicolás and Ramon X. Rosselló, both from the Department of Catalan Studies.
