The professor of the Facultat Empar Lurbe is the new vice-president of the European Society of Hipertensión (ESH). It converts like this in the first Spaniard in exerting this charge in the main scientific entity of Europe in the field of the cardiovascular illnesses.
Empar Lurbe Is at present boss of the Department of Pediatrics of the General Hospital of Valencia, professor of the Facultat of Medicine i Odontologia of the Universitat of València, boss of group of the Centre of Investigation Biomédica in Network of the Pathophysiology of the Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN) and coordinator of the Unit of Cardiovascular Risk in Boys and Teenage of the Valencian Community. It is also from 2013 director of Annals of Pediatrics, the official magazine of the Spanish Association of Pediatrics.
It is graduate in Medicine by the Facultat of Medicine of the Universitat of València. Specialist in Pediatrics and Nefrología, researcher in Nefrología and Hipertensión of the Northwestern University Medical School of Chicago (USA) and member of the Council for the High Arterial Pressure of the American Heart Association. It was coordinator of the Guides of consensus of the European Society of Hipertensión for the Handle of the Hipertensión in Boys and Teenage (2009 and 2016). Lurbe Has been IP in several Networks and international and national projects and has been awarded with the Talal Zein Award of the European Society of Hipertensión (Milan 2011). In the chapter of conferences, stand out numerous presentations of autonomic scope, national and international. It is author of numerous articles (more than 100), chapters of books (more than 20) and is member of the Publishing Council of several magazines in the fields of Pediatrics and Hipertensión.
European society of Hipertensión, reference in Europe and in the world
The aims of the ESH are to promote, back and organise activities related with the continuous medical education in the field of the hipertensión and the cardiovascular illnesses associated. These actions visibilizan mainly in the annual meeting, with presence of specialists of first level of all Europe, and by means of punctual scientific meetings, seminars, publications and specific educational programs. Besides, the ESH boosts and promotes, alone or in collaboration with other societies, members and groups of interest, the training of postgrado and the international exchange of researchers, professors and students.
Centres of excellence
In 2015 the Centres of Excellence of the ESH celebrated 10 years of work in hipertensión and cardiovascular prevention. The ESH is doing continuous efforts to manage the prevalencia of the problematic related with the hipertensión in Europe, stimulating the permanent exchange of scientific knowledge through the groups of skilled work. The groups of work were created for the study of specific subjects in the fields of the hipertensión experimental and clinical and contribute of significant way to the activities of the Society proposing matters for the scientific investigation and promoting studies that require of the cooperation of different university centres and no university in Europe.
