Degree in Catalan Studies

Why studying this degree?

Catalan Philology opens doors to the future. If you study this degree, you have employability guaranteed. You will find different specialities to design the kind of professional you want to be: linguistic advisor, editor, language and literature teacher, Catalan teacher abroad, translator…

The Degree in Catalan Studies trains students in essential cross-disciplinary skills in today’s world: text production, spoken communication in public, critical thinking.

The city of Valencia also provides the ideal framework to complete your training in language, literature, and culture.

Career opportunities

Graduates in Catalan Studies can focus their activity on four main fields:

Teaching Catalan language and its literature
Linguistic and cultural advice in the audiovisual media, the publishing world, and the public administration, including writing, correcting, and translating texts
Cultural management, both in the administration and in private companies
Research on language and literature

Degree Final Project

The Undergraduate Degree Final Project (TFG) consists in a project developed autonomously by students and supervised by a tutor. In the Degree in Catalan Studies, the TFG is a subject with 12 credits ECTS.

External internships

External placements allow students to apply the knowledge acquired and engage with professional reality, while at the same time strengthening links with the social and business environment.

Their aim is to apply and expand knowledge gained during the degree, while developing key professional competencies that contribute to improving employability and entrepreneurial capacity.

They take place in companies or institutions under the supervision of an academic tutor and a tutor from the collaborating organisation.

Curricular: integrated into the study plan.
Extracurricular: voluntary and not included in the study plan.

Mobility and UVInternational

The International Relations and Cooperation Service (UVinternational) manages the different exchange and mobility programmes between abroad and national universities, as well as different calls for international cooperation and co-development promotion.
