The seminar, organised by the Chair for Collaborative Economy and given by the professor from Public University of Navarre, will be held next 8 November at 16:00 at the Department of Labour and Social Security Law of the Universitat de València.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in the field of labour relations represents a scenario of high potential that opens up new possibilities for improving the management of occupational risk prevention and health surveillance in the workplace. However, it also entails potential dangers that must be taken into account. The seminar, organised by the Chair for Collaborative Economy and given by the professor from Public University of Navarre, will be held next 8 November at 16:00 at the Department of Labour and Social Security Law of the Universitat de València. Julen Llorens Espada will explore the multiple benefits of AI, notably in diagnosing and treating diseases effectively, but he will also raise awareness of the risks that can arise from inappropriate use of these new technologies.

European Union has been working in creating a common regulatory framework with the aim of ensuring the development and implementation of AI without compromising fundamental rights or being and obstacle to technological progress. The core focus of this seminar is analysing the impact of AI in occupational health surveillance while taking into account risk factors, protection of workers’ personal data and anti-discrimination rights. In addition, a proactive perspective will be taken in order to assess the positive impact of AI.

Thus, an optimistic view of the possibilities of AI will be considered, since it can contribute to automating the monitoring of health status, improve occupational risk prevention and anticipate potential health problems. AI can have a beneficial impact on all parties involved in health promotion and occupational risk prevention in companies, as long as a legal framework that puts individual rights at the centre is ensured.

The aim of this seminar is, on the one hand, to clarify the legal conditions of various specific applications of AI in occupational health surveillance and promotion of well-being at work. On the other hand, this seminar will explore how AI can be a powerful tool in order to improve health and safety at work while keeping the focus on people’s rights.

No pre-registration is required. Face-to-face seminar until full capacity is reached.
