Adrián Todolí

Dr Adrián Todolí Signes holds a degree in economics (2010) and a law degree (2012), and obtained his Doctorate in Law cum laude in 2016. He is the co-head of the Chair for Collaborative Economy and Digital Transformation at the Universitat de València. He has published more than 85 academic articles in national and international scientific journals, as well as 30 book chapters, 6 single-authored papers, and has coordinated 10 collective books.

His recognised expertise in the study of new technologies in the workplace from a legal perspective has earned him the positions of expert advisor to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on the Committee for the Regulation of the Work Platform and expert advisor to the Spanish Ministry of Labour on the Committee of Experts on Algorithms and Labour.

Dr Todolí Signes has been invited to participate in more than a hundred congresses and seminars, many international, held by the European Commission, Cambridge University, ILO, ASNALA, APDTSS and ADDTSS, among others. He has also been invited on more than 30 occasions to teach courses on institutional diversity, trade unions, employer’s federations, work inspections, etc.

Additionally, Dr Todolí Signes has important international connections to prestigious research centres such as Humboldt University, the Wirtschaftuniversität Wien, Paris Nanterre University, the Max-Planck Institute, the University of Munich, Cambridge University, UC Berkeley and the University of Oporto, among others.

IGNASI BELTRÁN DE HEREDIA RUIZ

Ignasi Beltrán de Heredia Ruiz

Dr Ignasi Beltrán de Heredia Ruiz has taken part in 12 research projects in response to public and official calls for tender, financed by both public administrations and private institutions. He is currently a member of a Consolidated Research Group (2021 SGR 00652) and since 2018, he has acted as the principal investigator (Spain) of the Women, Business and Law Project of the World Bank.

His publications cover all the thematic areas of the discipline, following different lines of research, of which the following are the most important for the purposes of this project: automation and the future of work, labour neurolaw and behavioural legal psychology, law and economics and labour law, and finally, the risk of ICTs on fundamental rights and the impact of robotics on labour relations.

Dr Beltrán de Heredia Ruiz has published over 89 academic papers in indexed journals, 3 single-authored papers, 3 collaborative papers, 17 book chapters, 36 entries in collective works, and he has coordinated one collective work.

Additionally, Dr Beltrán de Heredia Ruiz has given 162 lectures and 40 reports at different international and national conferences, seminars and congresses. His connections to international research centres include the ILO, the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) and Harvard Law School.

JOSÉ MARÍA GOERLICH PESET

José M Goerlich Peset

Dr José María Goerlich Peset graduated from the Universitat de València and earned his PhD in Bologna, Italy. He served as the Vice-Dean of the UV Faculty of Law between 1998 and 2000, the Vice-Principal of Teaching Staff between 2002 and 2006 and Director of the Lluís Vives Hall of Residence between 2007 and 2012. He is currently the Head of the Department of Labour and Social Security Law of the Faculty of Law of the UV.

Dr Goerlich Peset served as an alternate judge of the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community between 1989 and 1990. From 1990 to 1992, he worked as a lawyer at the Constitutional Court on a temporary secondment. In 1996, he served as an arbitrator in the Canary Islands system of conflict resolution and he currently serves as an arbitrator in the Labour Arbitration Court of the Valencian Community. From 2013 to 2021, he acted as an advisor to the Economic and Social Council as a government appointed expert. He has worked as an academic consultant for prestigious law firms including Broseta Abogados, EY Abogados and Cuatrecase.

Currently, Dr Goerlich Peset is the director of the Labour and Labour Focus series at Editorial Tirant lo Blanch and is co-director of LABOS: Journal of Labour Law and Social Protection. He has authored numerous publications related to his areas of specialisation. With more than three hundred publications throughout his research career, he is one of the most cited, prolific Spanish authors within the field of Labour and Social Security Law

GEMMA FABREGAT MONFORT

Gemma Fabregat Monfort

Dr Gemma Fabregat Monfort is the president of the Tripartite Council for the Development of Labour Relations and Collective Bargaining of the Valencian Community. She has given lectures at more than a hundred scientific conferences and congresses. Additionally, she has served as a specialist consultant, among other duties, for the reform of the Valencian Public Law from a gender perspective and for the negotiation of the Equality Plan for employees and employers of the Valencian Government.

Dr Fabregat Monfort has authored, co-authored, coordinated and edited over one hundred works, including academic papers, specialised journal articles, book chapters and practical treatises. Her primary research interests include the principle of equality and the prevention of gender discrimination, workplace harassment, managerial power, ius variandi and the fundamental rights of workers, institutions of internal flexibility, and collective bargaining.

Her international experience includes stays at the Università degli Studi di Roma “Tor Vergata”, the Università degli Studi di Bolonia, the London Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Cambridge University and the Università degli Studi di Milano.

Dr Fabregat Monfort has supervised 6 doctoral theses, has served as principal investigator on 2 competitive R+D projects, as well as several research contracts. Additionally, she has acted as an external evaluator for the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

As a national leader in the field of gender equality and the fight against harassment, Dr Fabregat Monfort has been appointed as an expert by the Valencian Department of Justice on several occasions.

AMPARO ESTEVE SEGARRA

AMPARO ESTEVE SEGARRA

Dr Amparo Esteve Segarra has served as an alternate judge of the Social Division of the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community for 18 years. She was appointed as an arbitrator in the Trade Union Elections in the province of Valencia by the Resolution of the Directorate General for Labour of 24 July 2020 of the Valencian Community. This appointment was made at the proposal of the most representative trade union and employers’ organisations. She is also an arbitrator of the Court of Labour Arbitration of the Valencian Community, according to the appointment made by Resolution of the Directorate General of Labour of 26 May 2021, and arbitrator of the Joint Committee of the VI ASAC of the Valencian Community.

Throughout her research career, Dr Esteve Segarra has participated in more than 10 national and international precompetitive research projects.

She is the sole author of 8 papers and co-author of one on the topics of forced retirement, contract termination in collective bargaining, corporate groups and employment contracts, business associations, processing wages and outsourcing. She has also published more than 140 articles in indexed journals and has written more than 76 book chapters. She is the editor of the “Collective Labour Law” section of Aranzadi’s Todo Social.

Dr Esteve Segarra has given more than 30 lectures at national and international congresses and has led more than 30 conferences and seminars on a wide range of topics for courses for the General Council of the Judiciary, trade unions, universities, and Aranzadi Social Forums, among others.

ANA BELÉN MUÑOZ RUIZ

ANA BELÉN MUÑOZ RUIZ

In June 2021, Dr Ana Belén Muñoz Ruiz was appointed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy as a member of the Committee for the Study of the Labour Implications of Algorithms for the development of corporate obligation regarding algorithmic transparency. She is the author of 6 books, both single and co-authored, 57 articles and 51 book chapters.

Her most recent research line offers a new analytical perspective on the impact of technology on work performance that goes beyond the traditional approach and proposes a more inclusive one based on privacy law.

Dr Muñoz Ruiz has served as the principal investigator in 5 European projects and research team member in 2 other European projects. Her work has received more than 500 national and international citations.

Her stays at foreign research centres include the Faculty of Law at the University of Ghent, la Eötvös Loránd University de Elte Law in Budapest, the Business School at Kingston University in London, the Law Department at the University of Stockholm, the Centre for Labour Market Research (CARMA) at the University of Aalborg and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

RAÚL DE ARRIBA BUENO

RAÚL DE ARRIBA BUENO

Dr Raúl de Arriba Bueno has been a Tenured Associate Professor since 2012. He has published 97 works including books, chapters and articles. About 30 are articles in indexed journals and about 20 are book chapters or full-length books. He has presented at 64 national and international congresses. He has participated in 15 research contracts and projects (6 EU-funded). He has been principal investigator in 9 (3 EU-funded). In total, he has been involved in 8 international projects over the last 17 years. He has completed 12 stays at prestigious foreign research centres including the École des Hautes Etudes in Social Sciences in Paris and the Núcleo de Investigação em Ciência Política e Relações Internacionais in Portugal.

His research is of an interdisciplinary nature, combing economy and politics, and is partly oriented towards the evaluation of economic policies. His main contributions focus on the role of formal and informal institutions as constraints or catalysts for change. He is currently the director of the research group 'Actors and Power Relations in Globalisation' (GIUV2020-468) at the Universitat de València.

SERGIO YAGÜE BLANCO

SERGIO YAGÜE BLANCO

A graduate in Labour Relations and Human Resources from the Universitat de València, specialising in Labour and Business Consultancy (2014), Dr Sergio Yagüe Blanco was awarded the National End of Degree Award by the Spanish Ministry of Education for the best academic performance in the degree for the eligible academic year at the national level. He has published 13 journal articles, 13 book chapters, 2 papers as sole author and is editor of one collective volume.

So far, Dr Yagüe Blanco has pursued four main lines of research, three of which were publically funded through competitive processes. These research lines include intellectual property and labour law (R+D+I project DER 2011-23528), digital disconnection (Project GV/2019/164), workplace violence and harassment (Project PGC2018-094912-B-I00) and company succession in the public sector. Regarding this last research line, he was a member of the Study and Debate Commission for the Reversion of the Externalised Public Services of the Valencian Government.

ÁNGELA MARTÍN-POZUELO LÓPEZ

ÁNGELA MARTÍN-POZUELO LÓPEZ

Dr Ángela Martín-Pozuelo López has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Labour and Social Security Law at the Universitat de València-General Study since 2021. She holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the UV.

She has participated in two projects financed by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness and by the Valencian Government. The first project focused on international labour relations (Projects DER2016-77772-P), and the second on artificial intelligence and online reputation (Project GV/2019/164).

Her research focuses on determining the enforceable law in the field of social security. She has also written extensively on Minimum Living Income and remote working, particularly in its international context, which is the most legally contentious. As a result, she has written two single-authored papers and one co-authored with Professor Tomás Sala Franco.

Dr Martín-Pozuelo López is also the sole author of over 10 doctrinal articles published in prestigious journals in the field of Labour and Social Security Law, as well as 15 chapters in collective volumes. Regarding her participation in scientific events, she has contributed to nearly 20 national and international congresses and conferences.

Within the field of digitalisation, Dr. Martín-Pozuelo López specialises in the study of remote working, a phenomenon that has experienced an unexpected boom due to the health pandemic that began in March 2020. The use of remote work is set to play a crucial role in the ecological transition, particularly in the current context of digitalisation. Therefore, studying this modality has become an essential issue today.

 

ANTONIO ALOISI

Doctor of Commercial and Social Law and Professor of European and Comparative Labour Law at IE University.

ANTONIO ALOISI

Dr Antonio Alosi is a member of Lawtomation, the Jean Monnet Centre for Excellence. His research is focused on the impact of innovation on labour regulation and social institutions. In 2020, he was awarded the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Grant for his project 'Boss Ex Machina'. The project aims to map out automated decision-making practices and assess the adequacy of existing legal frameworks in relation to the application of these practices in creating workspaces where technology is focused on the workers. This project has helped to increase understanding of the new phenomena resulting form the use of algorithms in labour relations. These phenomena have presented unprecedented legal and social challenges and have assisted in the development of regulatory processes, particularly at the EU level.

Dr Alosi, along with Valerio De Stefan, co-authored the book Your Boss is an Algorithm: Artificial Intelligence, Platform Work and Labour (Hart Publishing, 2022) and he regularly publishes research articles in leading academic journals. He was previously a member of the Cabinet of the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, where he worked on a long-term policy framework for school reform in Italy.

Dr Alosi is currently working on several projects related to the socio-legal implications of algorithmic management and AI, platform work, remote work and collective rights. He is also actively involved in outreach activities, ranging from attending conferences, participating in interdisciplinary initiatives and making media appearances. He is a member of the Transatlantic Group of Experts on the Future of Work, which promotes the exchange of opinions and practices for improvement that can inform EU-US policy dialogue and has a broad international reach.
