Work lines

Axis 1. Data collection

This axis focuses, in the first place, on the design of procedures to collect data on the current situation in reference to the 3 levels described before: access, education and employment. This section also includes the process of systematic data collection itself, once the mechanisms and agents that will have to carry out this gathering have been designed. Data is currently available at national and international level, but there is not specific data on the current situation in the Valencian Community. When designing action policies, it is essential to know the starting point, in order to centre efforts where they are most needed. The University of Valencia, through its own Equality Observatory, which depends on the Equality Unit, has data gathered within the university area, but it is necessary to extend the study far beyond this area. This field is coordinated with the rest of the Chairs, with the aim of verifying if the digital gender gap is larger depending on age and geographical location, and to determine in which areas and fields actions are more urgent.

Axis 2. Analysis and diagnosis

From the data obtained in axis 1, it is necessary to analyse what they mean and what may be the causes that lead to the map of situations found. Within this work line, collaboration with the rest of Chairs continues to be very important in order to analyse the interrelations and dependencies of several factors. Of great interest within this axis is the organisation of conferences, lectures, congresses and any other type of meeting, which allows disseminating the obtained results while studying the possible causes. This diagnosis must lead to the design of the measures to be taken in the third and last axis.

Axis 3. Recommendations and proposals

The last axis is aimed at proposing measures to change the initial situation of inequality. Always taking into account the three levels of the digital gap in order to determine measures organised in these three levels of access, education and employment. This axis also focuses on defining the parameters and methods for evaluating the impact of each of the proposed initiatives. The results will act as an input for a next stage of the axis 1, so that the 3 axis will be connected by the flow of information between them.
