The series of talks open to the public of the Girls4STEM Professional Project has organised, for Thursday 12th November at 6.30 p.m., a session dedicated to the Anglo-American astrophysicist Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin, streamed live from the ETSE-UV and with the special collaboration of the CSIC.

Although the talk will be streamed live on the YouTube channel, the organisers request prior registration at go.uv.es/girls4stem/cecilia.

The talk will be given by four professional women from scientific-technological areas, who will explain in a pleasant way their professional careers, their achievements and challenges, and about their daily life in their profession from an informative perspective and also as women in the STEM world.

Isabel Abánades: PhD in Chemistry and Researcher in the Instituto de Ciencia Molecular (Institute of Molecular Science), ICMol. Isabel studies the so-called ‘MOFs’, metal-organic networks with environmental applications.

Teresa Bonet: Computer Engineer, ICT technician in a local administration and member of the Colegio de Ingeniería Informática de la Comunitat Valenciana. Her projects contribute to bringing citizens closer to the administration.

Angélica Gómez: Industrial Engineer, Head of Operations in a logistics company in the automotive sector (with 79% female employees). She is also the first woman to be the dean of the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Técnicos Industriales of Valencia.

Anabel Morales: PhD in Nuclear Physics and Researcher in the Instituto de Física Corpuscular (IFIC). She is member of the Espectroscopia Gamma y Neutrones Group of the IFIC, where she mainly studies the properties of heavy exotic nuclei formed in astrophysical processes.

This conference, aimed at the general public and, in particular, at teachers of different educational levels, is part of the activities organised by Girls4STEM from the ETSE-UV, the Vice-Rectorate of Equality, Diversity and Sustainability, and the Unitat d’Igualtat of the UV, and is supported by the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government).

The main objective of the Girls4STEM Project is to promote vocations in the STEM areas (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) among the general public and, in particular, among women.

More information on the project’s objectives and activities is available on the project’s website (http://www.girls4stem.es)
