María Vallet-Regí to host the Girls4STEM Professional Talk on May 12th

Open to the public, the cycle of talks of the Girls4STEM project has scheduled for Thursday May 12th at 17.30 h. an online session dedicated to our godmother María Vallet-Regí, researcher at CIBER-BBN and Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid. In order to have access to the talk, you must register in advance.

María Vallet-Regí works in several fields such as bioceramics for the replacement and repair of hard tissues, bioactive glasses and ceramic-polymer composites for controlled drug release, among many others. She has received numerous awards, including the Rey Jaime I Award for Basic Research and the Medalla al Mérito en la Investigación y en la Educación Universitaria (Medal for Merit in Research and University Education). Academic Member of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy.

This is a free online talk aimed at university students, teachers of different educational levels and the general public. The Girls4STEM Professional Talks aim to raise awareness of the fundamental role of women in the development of science and technology, to eliminate prejudices and stereotypes about STEM careers and to inspire new generations to study them. 

The STEM experts who will speak on this occasion are:

  • Alma Rubio Espinós: He has 16 years of experience, working primarily on JEE projects to implement technology solutions. Expert in JavaScript, HTML, XML, JSP, among many other technologies and frameworks. She is currently working as a programmer at Pivotree.
  • Laura Santonja Blasco: Doctor in Chemical Engineering, her research has focused on the crystallisation of polymers and the use of thermal analysis to correlate their structure and properties. He is currently involved in industrial research at Polymer Char.
  • Rosa Ana Pérez Herrera: Doctor in Telecommunication Engineering and currently works as a tenure-track 2 professor at the Public University of Navarre, where she combines her teaching work with research on fibre optic sensor networks.

This Girls4STEM Professional talk is part of the activities organised by Girls4STEM from the ETSE-UV, the Office of the Vice-Principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Policies, the Equality Unit and the Office of the Vice-Principal for Innovation and Transfer of the Universitat de València. It also has the support of the Valencian Government and funding from the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). 

The main objective of the Girls4STEM project is to promote vocations in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) among the general public and, in particular, among girls.  Further information on the project's objectives and activities can be found on its website and social networks:
