On this occasion, Perico Sambeat presents a quintet formation accompanied by a selection of elite Spanish musicians. They perform a repertoire of original compositions in which they explore new paths, approaching different aspects of flamenco through bulerías, tanguillos, alegrías, and seguirillas. The result is a rigorous and innovative approach to blending both musical traditions.
Alto saxophonist Perico Sambeat is considered one of Spain’s great jazz musicians. He has earned enormous prestige through his extraordinary professional career. With more than twenty-five albums as leader or co-leader and over one hundred as a sideman, his collaborations with major figures such as Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tete Montoliu, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, and many others stand out. In the field of pedagogy, he has been a senior professor at Taller de Musics and Musikene. He currently teaches at Berklee Valencia
