In the XII century marks, according to the well-known assertion of Ludwig Traube, the beginning of the true aetas Ovidiana, a result of the medieval readers´ growing fascination on The Metamorphosis, Heroides, and in the smaller extend, The Fasti, by the author from Sulmona. It is about the medieval reception of the Heroides, which will be the topic of the talk,

This talk will focus on the reception of the Heroides and will pay special attention to the marks left by the Ovid´s epistles on the European vernacular literature, where they served as the model for the forging of the new sensibility in the expression of feelings and the development of the female characters with great psychological depth. All of this will be in company of the creation of the visual imagery where these women from Antiquity take the leading role and portray themselves as the authors of their own story, creating a link between their medieval readers.
