It is known that art stimulates the development of creativity, that it helps to strengthen self-esteem and that it can have a therapeutic function. In prison contexts, its integrative capacity stands out, but the implementation of artistic activities with people deprived of freedom has complex challenges: Is it capable of modifying the prison environment? How are prison staff involved in these initiatives? Is it rehabilitative capacity effective? Or how does the social transformation that lies behind these activities materialise? To discuss these and other questions, the Cultural Observatory has organised a round table made up of women who have led artistic projects in prisons in different parts of Spain.
