As explained in the Catalogue of Protected Assets and Spaces of Urban Nature of the Simplified Revision of the General Urban Development Plan of València (2013), the origins of this church can be traced back to a hermitage from the early 19^th century, rebuilt in 1832 and dependent on the parish of San Valero de Ruzafa. In 1902 the archbishop of València made it a parish church and as a result the construction of the current building began in 1908. Like so many other religious buildings, it suffered considerable material damage during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), especially to its interior furnishings. For these reasons it was restored and redecorated in the 1940s.

As explained in the Catalogue of Protected Assets and Spaces of Urban Nature of the Simplified Revision of the General Urban Development Plan of València (2013), it is a neo-baroque style building from the early 20^th century, built in brick like other similar buildings from that period. The bell tower was built in the early 19^th century by Friar Mateo Company, a Franciscan lay friar, and the façade was redecorated in 1978. The interior of the building consists of three naves, with the central nave having a barrel vault and the side naves having connected chapels. The chapels and the transept have groin vaults. The entire complex has a floor plan of 660 m² (7104.181ft²). Outside the church, there is a landscaped square with a modern iron cross on a pedestal and stone column, related to the old chapel.
